Summary:
|
WHEREAS, in response to the COVID-19 National Declaration of Emergency bids were electronically received on Friday, October 15, after public advertisement for Snow Plowing, Salting and Removal Services, request for bids were issued to eighty-six (86) vendors with two (2) vendors responding; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education approved the original contract during the October 28, 2021 Board Meeting for winter seasons 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 commencing with date of award with the option to renew for the 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 winter seasons; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with N.J.S.A. 18A:18A-4, the District awarded the contract to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder after public advertisement for bids; and
WHEREAS, the contract includes plowing, salting, and removal of snow; and
WHEREAS, exact expenditures are dependent on actual snowfall; and
WHEREAS, the District desires to exercise its sole two (2) year renewal option for winter seasons 2023-2024 and 2024-2025; and
WHEREAS, the vendor has agreed to renew under the same terms and conditions of the original contract with no increase in price; and
WHEREAS, the recommendation for renewal of term contract was reviewed and approved by Carlos Edmundo, Acting Executive Director of Facilities Management and Operations and Krystle Whitlock, Assistant School Business Administrator. |

Recommendation to the Board

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Newark Board of Education hereby accepts and approves the renewal of term contract for Snow Plowing, Salting, and Removal Services for the winter seasons of 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 as follows:
Guerreiro’s Trucking Inc. DBA Guerreiro’s Construction, Elizabeth, NJ at a cost not to exceed $2,400,000.00
EXPLANATION: To provide snow plowing, salting and removal services for the Newark Board of Education schools and properties. |
