Priority 2.3 2.3 Develop a cognitive-learning approach to pedagogy and instruction that deepens understanding of the science of learning and centralizes knowledge building as core to improving the academic achievement of all students, including English language learners, students with special needs, and struggling learners.

WHEREAS the Newark Board of Education (“Board”) desires to supplement the education of its students by providing additional tutoring services and experiences outside of the school day; and
WHEREAS the Board desires to permit all certified teaching staff members as well as non-certified school-based aides to commence providing tutoring services and acting as chaperones for experiences outside of the school day as of the first day of the 2024-2025 school year; |

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board hereby approves the appointment of any and all certified teaching staff members and non-certified school-based aides employed by the Board and approved by the Superintendent to serve as after-school tutors and chaperones, effective as of the first day of the 2024-2025 school year (pending receipt of any required documentation), with compensation as provided in each applicable collective negotiations agreement. |
