Summary:
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education approved a contract for New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) to provide technical support and assistance for the 2021 Facilities Conditions Assessment during the June 22, 2021 Board Meeting for the period of June 16, 2021 through June 30, 2022; and

WHEREAS, NJIT’s Center for Building Knowledge and students shall complete 3D scans of all Newark Board of Education properties and document the elements of the buildings and complete building information modeling (BMI); and

WHEREAS, this assessment will complement and assist the work of the District’s architectural/engineering professional consultants; and

WHEREAS, in accordance with N.J.S.A. 18A:18A-5b, the Newark Board of Education is authorized to enter in to a contract with other public agencies without public advertisement; and

WHEREAS, the signed NJIT Technical Services Agreement will become the contract; and

WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education approved the first extension of the contractual agreement with NJIT during the June 21, 2022 Board Meeting extending the contract through June 30, 2023; and

WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education approved the first amendment of term contract during the March 30, 2023 Board Meeting increasing the contract value and extending the contract term through June 30, 2024; and

WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education seeks a second contract extension to continue the work of expanding, updating, and maintaining the previously developed web-accessible database and website to include new observations, analysis, and newly acquired locations of the Newark Board Education; and

WHEREAS, the second extension of term contract was reviewed and approved by Carlos Edmundo, Acting Executive Director of Facilities Management and Krystle Whitlock, Assistant School Business Administrator.

Recommendation to the Board
NOW THERE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Newark Board of Education accepts and approves the second extension of term contract for Technical Services for 2021 Facilities Conditions Assessment extending the contract term from June 16, 2021 through June 30, 2024 to June 16, 2021 through June 30, 2025 and increasing the contract value as follows:

New Jersey Institute of Technology, Newark, NJ at a cost not to exceed from $662,026.20 to $767,425.20 (additional $105,399.00)

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Newark Board of Education hereby designates and authorizes the School Business Administrator, Valerie Wilson, to execute the contract.
