Summary:
|
|
WHEREAS, quotations were electronically received on Friday, October 11, 2024 after public advertisement for Local Foods for Schools. Request for quotations were issued to seven (7) vendors with two (2) vendors responding; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education received a Local Food for Schools grant from the New Jersey Department of Agriculture for purchasing local foods; and
WHEREAS, all food purchased must be whole, unprocessed or minimally processed and must meet the definition of local. Local is defined as domestic products grown and sourced in New Jersey; and
WHEREAS, in accordance of NJSA 18A:18A-5a (6), the District is authorized to award a contract without public advertisement for food supplies; and
WHEREAS, the District’s request for quotation and the vendor’s response will become the contract; and
WHEREAS, the contract term is January 1, 2025 through December 31, 2025; and
WHEREAS, the recommendation for award of term contract has been reviewed and approved by Valerie Wilson, School Business Administrator. |

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Newark Board of Education accepts and approves the award of term contract for Local Foods for Schools in care of the Food and Nutrition Services Department commencing January 1, 2025 through December 31, 2025 as follows:
Seashore Fruit and Produce Co., Vineland, NJ at a cost not to exceed $90,000.00
EXPLANATION: To provide the students of the Newark Board of Education with a fresh, nutritious and balanced meal. |
