Summary:

WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education desires to improve and expand education programs beyond high school; and WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education is authorized to enter into an agreement for extraordinary unspecifiable services in accordance with N.J.S.A. 18A:18A-5a (2); and WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education approved the original contract during the November 22, 2022 Board Meeting for a two (2) year period with the option to renew for one (1) additional two (2) year period; and WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education desires to exercise its sole two (2) year renewal option for a term of September 1, 2024 through August 31, 2026; and WHEREAS, the recommendation for renewal of term contract has been reviewed and approved by Sandra Marques, Director of Career and Technical Education and Dr. Maria Ortiz, Assistant Superintendent. |

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Newark Board of Education accepts and approves the renewal of term contract for student participation in aviation courses from September 1, 2024 through August 31, 2026 as follows: Aviation Institute of Maintenance, Teterboro, NJ at a cost not to exceed $560,000.00 EXPLANATION: To provide students with the opportunity to take aviation relates courses and earn aviation related certifications while in high school. |
