Summary:
|
WHEREAS, bids were received electronically on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 after public advertisement for Roof Replacement and Masonry Restoration at South 17th Street School. Request for bids were issued to thirty-six (36) vendors with six (6) vendors responding, see award analysis; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with N.J.S.A. 18A:18A-4, the District shall award only by resolution of the Board of Education to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder after public advertisement for bids; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with N.J.S.A. 18A:18A-2(y), the bid submitted by Punjab Restoration Co., LLC. is rejected and deemed non-responsive as this bidder failed to submit a requisite electrical subcontractor; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education wishes to award a contract to the next lowest responsive responsible bidder, Spartan Construction, Inc., 399 Oak St., Suite C, South Amboy, NJ 08879; and
WHEREAS, the award amount is the total lump sum base bid plus allowances and accepting unit prices one through seven in the amount of four million one hundred ninety-nine thousand dollars ($4,199,000.00); and
WHEREAS, an additional twenty percent (20%) in the amount of eight hundred thirty-nine thousand eight hundred dollars ($839,800.00) is requested as a contingency allowance; and
WHEREAS, the recommendation for award of contract was reviewed and approved by Carlos Edmundo, Acting Executive Director of Facilities Management and Krystle Whitlock, Assistant School Business Administrator. |

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Newark Board of Education accepts and approves the award of contract for Roof Replacement and Masonry Restoration at South 17th Street School in the amount of $4,199,000.00 with a 20% contingency allowance of $839,800.00.
