Summary:
|
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education issued request for proposals for Home Instruction Student Services to eleven (11) vendors with eight (8) vendors responding; and WHEREAS, The Newark Board of Education is mandated to provide home instruction for students classified as disabled, temporary illness or injury. Home Instruction is also mandated for general education students as ordered by courts when placement in an alternative education program is not immediately available, and for non-medical health or rehabilitation-related purposes; and WHEREAS, in accordance with N.J.S.A. 18A:18A-5a (1), the District is authorized to award a term contract without public advertisement for professional services; and WHEREAS, the contract shall be for a one (1) year period commencing July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025; and WHEREAS, service providers will be paid an hourly rate for services rendered and the total cost of all contracts awarded shall not exceed $700,000.00. The Newark Board of Education is not responsible for services performed without an authorized purchase order, and only the issuance of a purchase order authorizes the performance of services; and WHEREAS, the recommendation for award of term contracts has been reviewed and approved by Marilyn Mitchell, Director of Special Education. |

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Newark Board of Education accepts and approves the award of term contracts for Home Instruction services for a one (1) year period of July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025. Service providers will be paid an hourly rate for services rendered and the total cost for all contracts awarded shall not exceed seven hundred thousand dollars ($700,000.00) as follows: A. EI US LLC doing business as LearnWell, Plymouth, MA B. Silvergate Preparatory School LLC, Bridgewater, NJ C. Princeton Healthcare System a New Jersey Nonprofit Corporation doing business as Penn Medicine Princeton Health, Plainsboro, NJ D. Center for Children’s Behavioral Heath Inc, Fairfield, NJ E. Essex Regional Educational Services Commission, Fairfield, NJ F. Rutgers University/ Rutgers Health - University Behavioral Health Care, Piscataway, NJ G. Bancroft a New Jersey Non Profit Corporation, Cherry Hill, NJ H. Northern Region Educational Services Commission, Wayne, NJ And additional vendors as required by law at various rates. EXPLANATION: To provide mandated home instruction services to students as required. |
