Summary:
Whereas, the Local Recreation Improvement Grant is a competitive grant awarded through the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs to support improvement and repair of public recreation facilities including local parks, municipal recreation centers, and local stadium;

Whereas, the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs has awarded the Newark Board of Education $100,000 to upgrade the football field and track at Malcolm X Shabazz High School; and

Whereas, the funding will be used to completely renovate the existing Malcolm X Shabazz High School football field and track to provide students, families, and the community with a safe facility to participate and enjoy sports and extracurricular activities;

Whereas, the grant funding is for 2021-2022 school year.

Now, Therefore Be It Resolved, the Newark Board of Education accepts the grant from the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs in the amount of $100,000 and intends to comply with the provisions in the grant award letter.
