Summary:
|
WHEREAS, bids were originally received electronically on Friday, October 11, 2024 after public advertisement for Vertical Farming Units. Request for bids were issued to five (5) vendors with one (1) vendor responding; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education approved the rejection of the sole bid received in accordance with N.J.S.A. 18A:18A-22(a); as the bid substantially exceeded our cost estimates during the October 24, 2024 Board Meeting; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education re-advertised, and bids were received on Tuesday, December 3, 2024. Request for bids were issued to five (5) vendors with one (1) vendor responding; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education desires to reject this bid in accordance with N.J.S.A. 18A:18A-22(a); as the bid substantially exceeds our cost estimates; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with N.J.S.A 18A:18A-5c, the District is now authorized to negotiate and award a contract via adoption of a resolution.

Recommendation to the Board:

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Newark Board of Education hereby accepts and approves the rejection of bid for Vertical Farming Units in accordance with N.J.S.A. 18A:18A-22(a), and approves the commencement of negotiations for awarding a contract pursuant to N.J.S.A 18A:18A-5c.
