Summary: WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education formulated a needs based Long-Range Facility Plan which includes much needed renovation, alterations, additions and new school buildings; and

WHEREAS, to reduce over-crowding and best utilization of existing resources the Newark Board of Education Long-Range Facility Plan was developed by the district with input from community leaders and recommendations by consultants that specialize in educational planning and asset acquisition; and


WHEREAS, approving the updated Long Range Facilities Plan supports The Next Decade:2020-30 Strategic Plan, and the school district continued effort to support its growing student population with the Minor Amendment adding Capital Improvement projects at various locations; and

Recommendation to the Board: Therefore, BE IT RESOLVED, the Newark Board of Education authorize the amendment of the District’s Long Range Facility Plan (LRFP) in order to fulfill LRFP reporting requirements per N.J.S.A. 18A:7G-4(a), in which a district is required to amend its LRFP at least once every five years to update enrollment projections, building capacities and health and safety conditions.”



NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the Newark Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools hereby authorizes the updated Minor Amendment submission of the districts Long Range Facilities Plan to the N.J. Department of Education for review and comment. The district will continue to comply with all the requirements of the State Department of Education.
