2.6 Ensure curricula for college and career programs are executed with fidelity across all schools, increase the integration of academic core instruction into Career and Technological Education (CTE) programs of study, and provide higher education and internship opportunities.

Summary
:
Whereas Newark Board of Education has entered into a dual enrollment partnership with Montclair State University; and
Whereas up to 30 general elective MSU credits will be offered to eligible CTE Teacher Academy students during the 3rd and 4th year of the CTE Program of Study during SY 2021-2024 that can be applied towards a major leading to teacher certification; and
Whereas these courses will be taken during the school year and summer.
Upon acceptance into the Program, students will enroll in a maximum of two courses (3 credits each) per semester offered at NBOE location(s), if agreed upon by both Parties, or on-campus at MSU. Eligible students will be able to participate in introductory-level courses that are part of the University’s general education curriculum to be identified in a separate document created by the University. These courses will be taught by full-time or part-time MSU faculty. Courses will be offered to NBOE students over five semesters including the summer after eleventh grade. Upon their successful completion, credits for these courses will be assigned by Montclair State as college-level coursework earned at the University.
