Summary:
|
WHEREAS, bids were received electronically on Friday, September 15, 2023 after public advertisement for Emergent Structural Repairs and Demolition of Subsurface Vaults at Wilson Avenue School. Request for bids were issued to ten (10) vendors with two (2) vendors responding; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education awarded a contract to Pax Mundus Enterprise, LLC., 7 Tamaron Court, Monmouth Junction, NJ 08852 during the October 30, 2023 Board Meeting in the amount of $1,489,000.00. An additional $297,800.00 was approved for encumbrance as a contingency allowance; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education approved an amendment to contract during the February 29, 2024 Board Meeting for inclusion of an additional funding source; and
WHEREAS, change order one provides additional electrical work beyond the scope of the base contract in the amount of $17,790.95; and
WHEREAS, change order one was reviewed and approved by Carlos Edmundo, Acting Executive Director of Facilities Management and Krystle Whitlock, Assistant School Business Administrator.

Recommendation to the Board:

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Newark Board of Education accepts and approves change order one in the amount of $17,790.95 increasing the contract value to $1,506,790.95. Remaining contingency will be $280,009.05.
EXPLANATION: Additional electrical work required to complete the emergent structural repairs and demolition of subsurface vaults at Wilson Avenue School.
