Summary:

WHEREAS, in response to the COVID-19 National Declaration of Emergency proposals were electronically received in accordance with N.J.S.A. 18A:18A-4.5 on Thursday, February 16, 2023 after public advertisement for Multisensory, Systematic, Structured, Foundational Reading Skills Program for Kindergarten Through Fifth Grade. Request for proposals were issued to eighteen (18) vendors with fifteen (15) vendors responding; and WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education approved the award of contract during the March 30, 2023 Board Meeting for a contract term of April 1, 2023 through March 31, 2025 with the option to renew for one (1) additional two (2) year period; and WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education desires to exercise its sole two (2) year renewal option early as the contract is reaching its maximum expenditure. The renewal term shall be July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2026; and WHEREAS, the recommendation for renewal of term contracts has been reviewed and approved by Jazleen Othman, Director of English Language Arts.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Newark Board of Education accepts and approves the renewal of term contracts for Multisensory, Systematic, Structured, Foundational Reading Skills Program for Kindergarten Through Fifth Grade for a contract term of July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2026 as follows: A. The Center for Collaborative Classroom, Alameda, CA at an amount not to exceed $3,000,000.00 B. Great Minds PBC, Washington, DC at an amount not to exceed $1,500,000.00 C Wilson Language Training, Oxford, MA at an amount not to exceed $3,000,000.00 EXPLANATION: To meet the educational requirements of New Jersey and the District’s Education Plan.
