Summary:
|
WHEREAS, Montclair State University was awarded the Federal Institutional Resilience and Expanded Postsecondary Opportunity (IREPO) grant from the US Department of Education; and
WHEREAS, Montclair State University named Newark Board of Education one of its sub recipients for the grant award; and
WHEREAS, Montclair State University will partner with Newark Board of Education to provide 300 high school juniors (100 each from the Class of 2023, 2024 and 2025) virtual classes. Students have the opportunity to receive 9-12 credits and automatic entrance into MSU; and
WHEREAS, Montclair State University will award Newark Board of Education $75,000 this budget period and a total of $189,000 over the entire grant to purchase supplies for the students participating in the program; and
WHEREAS, Newark Board of Education will work with all high school counselors to select students to participate in general education courses such as writing, public speaking and sociology. Classes will be offered Spring 2022 until Fall 2024.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the Newark Board of Education accepts the sub-award from Montclair State University in the amount of $75,000 for the period September 2021 to August 2022 to support the dual enrollment program and intends to comply with all components of the subaward agreement.
