Summary:
|
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education desires a new playground for Lincoln Elementary School, and acknowledges the significance of investing in facilities that promote physical activity, social interaction, and childhood development; and
WHEREAS, the playground improvements total one million four hundred thirty-three thousand thirty-seven dollars ($1,433,037.00), and the Trust for Public Land has secured funding, with the exception of two hundred fifty-three thousand one hundred eighty-six dollars ($253,186.00) which is required from the Newark Board of Education; and
WHEREAS, the two hundred fifty-three thousand one hundred eighty-six dollars will support the removal of light poles, address water infiltration in the foundation, a meditation garden/outdoor classroom, and construction; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education is authorized to enter into an agreement for extraordinary unspecifiable services in accordance with NJSA 18A:18A-5a (2); and
WHEREAS, the recommendation for award of term contract was reviewed and approved by Valerie Wilson, School Business Administrator.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Newark Board of Education accepts and approves the award of a supplemental funds contract for Lincoln Elementary School Playground as follows:
Trust for Public Land, Los Angeles, CA at a cost not to exceed $253,186.00
