|
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education advertised to receive bids on Friday, May 2, 2025 for Newark Schools Stadium Turf Replacements and Stadium Improvements 516-566 Roseville Avenue, Newark, NJ 07107. Request for bids were issued to seventeen (17) vendors with four (4) vendors responding, see award analysis; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with N.J.S.A. 18A:18A-4, the District shall award only by resolution of the Board of Education to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder after public advertisement for bids; and
WHEREAS, the apparent lowest bidder, Grade Construction requested to withdraw their bid proposal due to their unintentional material mistake as it relates to a named subcontractor. The Newark Board of Education accepted their request; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education wishes to award the next lowest, responsible bidder, Drill Construction Co., Inc., 80 Main St., Suite 570, West Orange, NJ 07052; and
WHEREAS, the award amount is the total lump sum base bid plus allowances one through five in the amount of five million fifty thousand dollars ($5,050,000.00); and
WHEREAS, an additional twenty percent (20%) in the amount of one million ten thousand dollars ($1,010,000.00) is requested as a contingency allowance; and
WHEREAS, the recommendation for award of contract was reviewed and approved by Carlos Edmundo, Acting Executive Director of Facilities Management and Krystle Whitlock, Assistant School Business Administrator.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Newark Board of Education accepts and approves the award of contract for Newark Schools Stadium Turf Replacements and Stadium Improvements in the amount of $5,050,000.00 with a 20% contingency allowance of $1,010,000.00.
EXPLANATION: To provide turf replacements and stadium improvements at Newark Schools Stadium.
