Summary: Whereas, the Newark Board of Education has established the Office of Career and Technical Education to assist students with identifying, exploring and ultimately selecting career interests and pathways; and

Whereas, the Newark Board of Education will use Perkins funds to support all fundable activities associated with career academies established at the secondary level; and

Whereas, in accordance with the spending plan, specific activities will include the following:
Increasing the number of students participating in and completing career pathways
Increasing the number of school based, work-based and connecting activities
Improved accountability
Program assessment and evaluation
A successful recruitment and marketing process;

Whereas, the state of New Jersey allocates to the Newark Board of Education funds for Vocational and Technical Education in the amount of $221,117.
Funding : $221,117
Recommendation to the Board: Now, Therefore It Be Resolved, the Newark Board of Education accepts the funds for the Carl D. Perkins grant and will adhere to the spending plan under the Carl D. Perkins Education Act of 2006 for FY 2022.
