Summary:

Whereas, The New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) announced the New Jersey Learning Acceleration Program: High-Impact Tutoring Grant to support districts to provide high dosage, intensive tutoring by focusing on high-impact tutoring interventions for students that have been disproportionately affected by the pandemic; and Whereas, the Newark Board of Education is seeking permission to apply for the grant up to the total amount available $768,000 for a one-year project period; and Whereas, this limited-competitive grant program is open to all operating New Jersey public school districts serving students in grades three (3) and/or grade 4 (four); and Whereas, the grant proposal will be developed in collaboration with the offices of: Teaching & Learning; Policy, Planning, Evaluation & Testing; and Grants.

Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved, the Newark Board of Education approves the submission of the district’s application to the New Jersey Department of Education and agrees to accept and comply with all guidelines set forth in the grant if awarded.
