Summary:
|
WHEREAS, bids were electronically received on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 after public advertisement for Paving Services. Request for bids were issued to twenty-two (22) vendors with three (3) vendors responding, and
WHEREAS, the solicitation was 100% set-aside for certified Minority Owned Business Enterprise (MBE) and/or Women Owned Business Enterprise (WBE) and/or Small Business Enterprise (SBE) businesses; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education approved the original contract during the June 20, 2023 Board Meeting for a two (2) year period of June 20, 2023 through June 19, 2025 with an option to renew for one (1) additional two (2) year period; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education desires to exercise its sole two (2) year renewal option early as the contract is reaching its maximum expenditure for a period of September 1, 2024 through August 31, 2026; and
WHEREAS, the recommendation for renewal of term contract was reviewed and approved by Wali Thomas, Director of Custodial Services, Carlos Edmundo, Acting Executive Director of Facilities Management and Krystle Whitlock, Assistant School Business Administrator.

Recommendation to the Board:

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Newark Board of Education hereby accepts and approves the renewal of term contract for Paving Services for a two (2) year period commencing September 1, 2024 through August 31, 2026 as follows:
Frank A. Macchione Construction, Inc. doing business as Paving Plus at a cost not to exceed $6,250,000.00
EXPLANATION: To provide paving services to Newark Board of Education schools and properties.
