Summary: Whereas, NJIT agreed to increase the number of students who reside in Newark and enroll in NJIT, in part, through community engagement, professional development and conducting college-readiness programs to increase the applicant pool with strong candidates seeking enrollment at NJIT. Whereas, NJIT and Newark Board of Education will collaborate to implement the NJIT Forensic Science Initiative by recruiting students to participate in the program and as well as Newark school lead contacts and science teachers to participate in the professional development. Whereas, they will develop the components of the program for the 2022-23 summer and school year.
Funding : No cost to district.
Recommendation to the Board: Now therefore, be it resolved that the Newark Board of Education approve this agreement between NJIT and the Newark Board of Education to collaborate in the Forensic Science Initiative.
