Summary:
|
WHEREAS, Partner is a not-for-profit educational corporation in the State of New Jersey that participates in the Upward Bound Program in order to provide, inter alia, ACADEMIC SUPPORT TO STUDENTS FROM NEWARK SCHOOL DISTRICTS ; and
WHEREAS, Partner’s staff has the education, certification, training and/or work experience in this area so as to be able to provide these services responsibly; and
WHEREAS, the Board voluntarily desires to allow Partner to provide such services to the Board.
Upward Bound provides fundamental support to participants in their preparation for college entrance. The goal of Upward Bound is to increase the rate at which participants complete secondary education and enroll in and graduate from institutions of postsecondary education. Participants will have the opportunity to come to Partner’s South Orange campus two (2) Saturdays a month during the school year to engage in the Upward Bound Program.

There is no payment of monies exchanged between the parties for the services rendered or received.

Recommendation to the Board:
|
The Newark Board of Education accepts the Memorandum of Understanding with Seton Hall University Upward Bound Program and intends to comply with all provisions in the document.
