Summary:

This research project will provide critical feedback on the Pre-AP program by exploring the following research questions:
1.) What is the impact of Pre-AP enrollment on students’ motivation to take AP?
2.) What is the relationship between the final course grade and Pre-AP assessments to other performance indicators?
3.) How does Pre-AP instructional design support and influence classroom behaviors?
4.) What challenges are schools facing in implementing Pre-AP and how can these challenges be ameliorated?
The researchers hope to achieve these goals by conducting quantitative analyses using Pre-AP & AP enrollment and testing data to compare the participation in and performance on AP tests between students who participate in Pre-AP courses and those that do not. Additionally, the researchers hope to gain additional insight about the implementation of the Pre-AP program by interviewing and observing Pre-AP teachers. To gain a broader perspective on the success of implementation, they would also like to survey students and teachers participating in the Pre-AP program.
