Summary:
|
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education received proposals on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 after public advertisement for Instructional Professional Development for Health Education and Safe and Supportive Environments Request For Proposal, proposals were issued to five (5) vendors with three (3) vendors responding; and WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education desires to retain program providers to support educators in the delivery of skills based health curriculum for middle and high school students; and WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education received a Newark Health and Wellness Project Grant to fund said services. The grant seeks to utilize a multi-component, multi-level effort to support youth in Newark reaching adulthood in the healthiest possible way; and WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education approved the original award of contract during the January 22, 2019 Board meeting for a three (3) year period of January 22, 2019 through January 21, 2022 with an option to renew for two (2) successive one (1) year periods; and WHEREAS, the District desires to exercise its first and second renewal options; and WHEREAS, the recommendation for renewal has been reviewed and approved by Michelina Thornton, Director of Federal Programs and Grants.

NOW THERE BE IT RESOLVED that the Newark Board of Education accepts and approves the first and second renewal options for Instructional Professional Development for Health Education and Safe and Supportive Environments for a two-year period of November 23, 2021 through November 22, 2023 as follows: A. Center for Supportive Schools, Princeton, NJ at a cost not to exceed $120,000.00 B. Rutgers University, Piscataway, NJ at a cost not to exceed $148,000.00 EXPLANATION: To provide professional development in health education for middle and high school students. Subject to the availability of funds.
