Summary:
|
WHEREAS, proposals were received on Wednesday January 17, 2018, after public advertisement for Therapeutic Counseling Services for Behavior Disabilities Request for Proposal in accordance with N.J.S.A. 18A:18A-4.5, proposals were issued to four (4) vendors with two (2) vendors responding; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education desires to provide therapeutic services to improve, track, and monitor the social, emotional and academic success of students who have emotional and behavioral problems in the public school setting; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education approved the original contract award at the February 27, 2018 Board meeting for a two (2) year period from date of award with the option to renew for two (2) successive one (1) year periods; and
WHEREAS, the Newark board of Education approved the first one (1) year renewal option at the May 18, 2020 Board meeting, and the second and final renewal option with a two percent (2%) contractual increase at the May 27, 2021 Board meeting for a contract term concluding June 30, 2022; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education desires to amend the current contract to provide therapeutic counseling services for one additional school; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education has received an Individuals with Disabilities Education Act Grant to assist with funding; and
WHEREAS, the recommendation for amendment of term contract was reviewed and approved by Marilyn Mitchell, Director of Special Education.

Recommendation to the Board:

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Newark Board of Education accepts and approves the amendment of term contract for Therapeutic Counseling Services for Behavior Disabilities from May 26, 2021 through June 30, 2022 as follows:
Effective School Solutions, LLC Summit, NJ at a cost not to exceed from $963,900.00 to $1,071,000.00 (increase of $107,100.00)
EXPLANATION: To provide therapeutic services for students to aid in accelerated student achievement. Subject to availability of funds.
