Summary:
|
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education desires to improve and expand education programs beyond high school; and
WHEREAS, the District desires to enter into contracts with institutions of higher education to provide students with the opportunity to earn college credits while in high school; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with N.J.S.A. 18A:18A-5a(1), the Board is authorized to award a term contract of one year for professional services without advertising for bids or public bidding; and
WHEREAS, the contract shall be for a period not to exceed one (1) year from September 1, 2021 through August 31, 2022; and
WHEREAS, the recommendation for award of term contract has been reviewed and approved by Dr Mary Ann Reilly, Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning and Nicole Johnson, Deputy Superintendent.

Recommendation to the Board:

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Newark Board of Education accepts and approves the award of term contract for student participation in pre-college programs/ dual enrollment from September 1, 2021 through August 31, 2022 at Bard College, Annandale-On-Hudson, NY at a cost not to exceed two hundred thirty-six thousand two hundred fifty dollars ($236,250.00).
EXPLANATION: To provide students with the opportunity to earn college credits while in high school. Subject to the availability of funds.
