Summary:

WHEREAS, proposals were received on Wednesday, November 22, 2019 after public advertisement for Principal Professional Development, Development Of Integrated English Language Arts And Social Studies Curriculum, And Prevention Of Reading Difficulties Professional Development, request for proposals were issued to twenty-two (22) vendors with eight (8) vendors responding; and WHEREAS, proposals were evaluated by staff members of the Newark Board of Education and the committee selected the finalist identified below as the best qualified vendor based on their response to the District’s request for proposal; and WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education approved the award of contract at the January 21, 2020 Board meeting for a two-year period of January 21, 2020 through January 20, 2022 with an option to renew for one (1) successive two (2) year period; and WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education desires to exercise its sole renewal option; and WHEREAS, the recommendation for renewal of term contract has been reviewed and approved by Marisol Diaz, Director of Bilingual Education.

NOW THERE BE IT RESOLVED that the Newark Board of Education accepts and approves the renewal of term contract for Principal Professional Development, Development Of Integrated English Language Arts And Social Studies Curriculum, And Prevention Of Reading Difficulties Professional Development, for a two (2) year period of January 21, 2022 through January 20, 2024 as follows: Foster Consulting LLC, Newark, NJ at an annual cost not to exceed $500,000.00 EXPLANATION: To provide professional development services to prevent reading difficulties, develop and implement culturally responsive pedagogy to aid in the delivery and establishment of highly effective learning environments. Subject to the availability of funds.
