Summary:
|
WHEREAS, Quotations were electronically received on Friday, March 26, 2021 after public advertisement for Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program Request For Quotation, request for quotations were issued to twenty-one (21) vendors with one (1) vendor responding; and
WHEREAS, in accordance of NJSA 18A:18A-5a (6), the District is authorized to award a contract without public advertisement for food supplies; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education approved the award of contract at the May 27, 2021 Board Meeting for a contract period of July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022 with an option to renew for one (1) additional one (1) year period; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education desires to amend the current award to purchase additional fresh fruits and vegetables as the New Jersey Department of Agriculture provided the Newark Board of Education with three hundred, fifteen thousand, eight hundred and seven-five dollars ($315,875.00) for the Fresh Fruit And Vegetable Program; and
WHEREAS, the recommendation for amendment has been reviewed and approved by Dr. Tonya McGill, Executive Director of Food and Nutrition Services.

Recommendation to the Board:

NOW THEREFORE IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, that the Newark Board of Education Board hereby accepts and approves the amendment of term contract to purchase additional Fresh Fruits and Vegetables for a one (1) year period of July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2021 with an option to renew for (1) additional one (1) year period as follows:
Seashore Fruit & Produce Inc., Vineland, NJ at a cost not to exceed from $75,000.00 to $315,875.00
EXPLANATION: To provide the students of the Newark Board of Education with a balanced and nutritious school lunch. Subject to the availability of funds.
