Summary:
|
WHEREAS, in response to the COVID-19 National Declaration of Emergency proposals were electronically received in accordance with N.J.S.A. 18A:18A-4.5 on Friday, August 6, 2021 after public advertisement for Special Education, Bilingual, and English as A Second Language Teacher Professional Development, request for proposals were issued to ten (10) vendors with six (6) vendors responding; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education desires professional development services focusing on Special Education Leadership, Preschool Special Education Services, Universal Design for Learning Framework, Assistive Technology, Bilingual Special Education, Literacy Support for Special Education Students, and Bilingual and English as a Second Language Teacher Professional Development; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education approved the award of contracts at the August 26, 2021 Board meeting for a two (2) year period of August 26, 2021 through August 25, 2023 with the option to renew for one (1) successive two (2) year period; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education desires to increase West Ed’s contract award for inclusion of six (6) additional schools to participate in the Teacher Practice Lesson Design Series; and
WHEREAS, the recommendation for amendment of term contract has been reviewed and approved by Marilyn Mitchell, Director of Special Education.

Recommendation to the Board:

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Newark Board of Education accepts and approves the amendment of term contract for Special Education, Bilingual, and English as A Second Language Teacher Professional Development services for inclusion of six (6) additional schools to participate in the Teacher Practice Lesson Design Series for a two (2) year period of August 26, 2021 through August 25, 2023 with an option to renew for one (1) successive two (2) year period as follows:
A. Disability Rights New Jersey, Trenton, NJ at an annual cost not to exceed $50,000.00
B. Star Autism Support Inc, Portland, OR at an annual cost not to exceed $216,000.00
C. West Ed, San Francisco, CA at an annual cost not to exceed from $620,000.00 to $900,000.00
EXPLANATION: The District desires Special Education and Bilingual professional development services. Subject to availability of funds.
