Summary: Whereas, this MOU establishes a partnership between the Newark Board of Education and ASPIRA Inc. of New Jersey, through which ASPIRA will deliver STEAM-based afterschool and summer enrichment programs for students at Luis Muñoz Marín School. These programs, offered in collaboration with the Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC) grant, run from September through June, Monday through Friday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., and during the summer from July through August, Monday through Friday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Students will engage in activities covering science, art, physical fitness, media arts, math, and ELA, with additional field trips, celebrations, and newsletters enhancing the experience. This partnership supports student learning, engagement, and development at no cost to the District.

Recommendation to the Board: Now therefore, be it resolved that the Newark Board of Education approves this Memorandum of Understanding between ASPIRA Inc. of New Jersey and the Newark Board of Education.
