Summary: WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education requires cafeteria serving lines to successfully operate the Food and Nutrition Program at Nelson Mandela Elementary School; and

WHEREAS, serving lines were originally ordered from The Sam Tell Company (purchase order 24-0002808). However, The Sam Tell Company later identified they could not meet the required deadline, therefore jeopardizing the District’s ability to provide students with a fresh and nutritious meal; and

WHEREAS, the vendor Hubert Company was able to deliver the serving lines before school opening; and

WHEREAS, purchase order 24-0003596 was processed for Hubert Company totaling $15,501.60; and

WHEREAS, this contract was awarded in accordance with NJSA 18A:18A-7, as it affects student health and safety; and

WHEREAS, the action taken to purchase the cafeteria equipment was reviewed and approved by Elayier Pickett, Interim Director of Food and Nutrition Services.

Recommendation to the Board: NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Newark Board of Education accepts and approves the action taken for purchasing cafeteria serving lines to provide students with a fresh and nutritious meal as follows:

Hubert Company, Harrison, OH at a cost not to exceed $15,501.60
