Summary: Robotics' teams 8707 and 8706 have been selected to receive The FIRST Mid-Atlantic Tools and Equipment Grant funded by the Argosy Foundation for rookie year participation in FIRST’s FRC program. The Program and Development Directors reviewed criteria in which the teams were deemed suitable for this grant.

This grant is unique in terms of providing worthy teams with physical assets with which students will get hands on skill sets using these tools and equipment. These skills will enable students to carry these experiences forward for years to come. The tools and equipment will have a sustainable effect, lasting many years and providing additional opportunities for students.
Funding : This is a grant. There are no costs to the district.
Recommendation to the Board: Now therefore, be it resolved that the Newark Board of Education approve this Memorandum of Understanding between the First Mid- Atlantic Tools and Equipment Grant Program and the Newark Board of Education to participate in a robotics program at Malcolm X. Shabazz High School and Newark School of Data Science and Information Technology High School.
