Summary: Whereas, Education Credit Management Corporate (ECMC) group is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to help students succeed by creating, providing, and investing in innovative educational opportunities; and

Whereas, the Newark School District seeks support from ECMC to enhance and expand our existing FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) submission and completion efforts. By focusing on a comprehensive range of activities, NBOE aims to ensure that senior students and their parents are fully equipped to navigate the FAFSA process successfully; and

Whereas, in facilitating FAFSA completion for the incoming seniors, ECMC would like to fund this initiative in the amount of $21,500 and advance the district’s efforts to help students accomplish the district’s high school graduation requirement and to promote higher education accessibility for all students.

Whereas, the grant will be managed by the Office of Student Life for the 2024-2025 school year.

Recommendation to the Board: Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved, the Newark Board of Education accepts the grant award of $21,500 from the Education Credit Management Corporate (ECMC) group and intends to comply with the components established in the grant application.
