Summary: Whereas, The New Jersey Nonpublic Security Aid Program is authorized by language in the FY 2025 Appropriations Act appropriating State aid to school districts for allocation to nonpublic schools within the district to help ensure a safe and secure school environment for nonpublic school students; and

Whereas, Newark Board of Education is responsible for providing security services, equipment, and technology to the nonpublic schools within the limits of the funds provided by this program; and

Whereas, Newark Board of Education will consult with the administrator of each participating non-public school, advise them of their funds, and discuss and agree on the security services, equipment and technology to be purchased; and

Whereas, the New Jersey Department of Education allocates $313,855.00 to the Newark Board of Education for fiscal year 2025, beginning July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025. Funds will be distributed to the non-public schools located within the district as determined by the New Jersey Department of Education.

Recommendation to the Board: Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved, the Newark Board of Education accepts the award from the New Jersey Department of Education for the Nonpublic Security Aid.
