Summary: WHEREAS, in response to the COVID-19 National Declaration of Emergency proposals were electronically received on Friday, June 3, 2022 after public advertisement for Dual Enrollment Pre-College Programming, request for proposals were issued to thirteen (13) vendors with seven (7) vendors responding; and

WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education desires to enter into contracts with institutions of higher education to provide students with the opportunity for dual enrollment for earning college credits while in high school; and

WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education approved the award of contract during the June 21, 2022 Board Meeting for a contract term of July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2025 with an option to renew for one (1) successive two (2) year period; and

WHEREAS, the District desires to increase the award value based on increased program enrollment and expansion; and

WHEREAS, the recommendation for amendment of term contract has been reviewed and approved by Dr. Maria Ortiz, Assistant Superintendent.

Recommendation to the Board: NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Newark Board of Education accepts and approves the amendment of term contracts from two million dollars ($2,000,000.00) to five million dollars ($5,000,000.00) for Dual Enrollment Pre-College Programing for a three (3) year period of July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2025 with an option to renew for one (1) successive two (2) year period for the intuitions of higher education listed below:

A. Bard College, Annandale-on-Hudson, NY
B. Essex County College, Newark, NJ
C. Fairleigh Dickinson University, Teaneck, NJ
D. Montclair State University, Montclair, NJ
E. Rutgers The State University, Piscataway, NJ
F. Seton Hall University South Orange, NJ

EXPLANATION: To provide students with the opportunity to earn college credits during high school.
