Summary:
|
WHEREAS, in response to the COVID-19 National Declaration of Emergency bids were electronically received on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 after public advertisement for Social Studies Instructional Materials, request for bids were issued to fourteen (14) vendors with three (3) vendors responding; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with N.J.S.A. 18A:18A-5(a)5, the District is authorized to award a contract without public advertisement for educational goods and services; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with N.J.S.A.18A:18A-2(y), the pricing submitted by Thinking Nation is rejected and deemed unresponsive as they failed to submit a signed bid; and
WHEREAS, the contract term is for a two (2) year period with the option to renew for one (1) additional two (2) year period; and
WHEREAS, the recommendation for award of term contract was reviewed and approved by Carynne Conover, Director of Social Studies and Dr. Mary Ann Reilly, Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning.

Recommendation to the Board:

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Newark Board of Education accepts and approves the award of term contract for Social Studies Instructional Materials for a two (2) year contract with the option to renew for one (1) additional two (2) year period as follows:
Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Boston, MA at a cost not to exceed $1,200,000.00
EXPLANATION: To provide the District with Social Studies instructional materials. Subject to availability of funds.
