17.14 Approval of Essex County College Syllabi for Dual Enrollment Courses

Priority 2.6 2.6 Ensure curricula for college and career programs are executed with fidelity across all schools, increase the integration of academic core instruction into Career and Technological Education (CTE) programs of study, and provide higher education and internship opportunities. Priority 2.1 2.1 Develop and implement a pre-K through grade 12 inclusive curricula and assessments that elevate historically marginalized voices, strengthen and sustain a focus on the instructional core, and provide opportunities to learn about perspectives beyond one’s own scope. Priority 2.3 2.3 Develop a cognitive-learning approach to pedagogy and instruction that deepens understanding of the science of learning and centralizes knowledge building as core to improving the academic achievement of all students, including English language learners, students with special needs, and struggling learners.

Summary:

Whereas, Essex County has agreed to provide syllabi for Technology High School students for Intro to Film, Engineering Graphics and Introduction to CAD, and Applied Computer-Aided Design;and Engineering Graphics and Introduction to CAD covers the fundamentals of engineering graphics including the drawing of orthographic, isometric, and auxiliary projections. Other topics include scaling, sectioning, dimensioning, and drawing documentation. This course uses the latest release of computer aided design (CAD) software commonly used in industry to introduce students to CAD interface, structure, and commands; and Intro to Film is an introductory course designed to acquaint students with the art of film and to enable them to gain a greater understanding and appreciation of this important medium. The course covers the history of cinema, various cinematic theories and genres, and profiles of the industry’s most influential directors; and Applied Computer-Aided Design uses the latest release of AutoCAD software. Students are introduced to the terminology, use, capabilities of CAD. Through hands-on instruction, students learn to complete projects using the latest hardware and software.
