Summary:
|
Whereas, the New Jersey Department of Education wishes to enter into a Reimbursement Agreement (RA) with the Newark Board of Education to collaborate on the Collaborations in Transition New Jersey (CITNJ) Project funded by the Disability Innovative Fund; and
Whereas, the Newark Board of Education will receive reimbursement from the NJDOE, division of Educational Services for attendance and participation in the CITNJ Transition Academy; and
Whereas, the project is geared to increase the number of NJ children and youth with disabilities who experience a successful transition from school to adult life while achieving their postsecondary goals related to competitive integrated employment by improving interagency collaboration among staff at various state and private agencies serving individuals with disabilities and their families; and
Whereas, The Newark Office of Special Education will facilitate a Transition Fair on a yearly basis including partners from the CITNJ project.

Recommendation to the Board:

Now, therefore, Be it Resolved, the Newark Board of Education accepts the New Jersey Department of Education grant to participate in the Collaborations in transition NJ (CITNJ) project in the amount of $325,000; $81,250 per year commencing October 1, 2024 and agrees to accept and comply with all guidelines set forth in the Reimbursement Agreement.
