Summary:

WHEREAS, in response to the COVID-19 National Declaration of Emergency the Newark Board of Education desires to provide students with a fresh, nutritious, and balanced meal by providing Shoprite gift cards; and
WHEREAS, the gift cards will be utilized as needed for underprivileged and or displaced students; and
WHEREAS, the recommendation for award of term contract has been reviewed and approved by Mary Harvey, Director of Student Life.

Recommendation to the Board:

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Newark Board of Education accepts and approves the award of term contract for the purchase of Shoprite gift cards from date of award through June 30, 2022 as follows:
Newark Shoprite LLC, Newark, NJ at an amount not to exceed $38,000.00
EXPLANATION: To provide grocery store gift cards for underprivileged and or displaced students. Subject to the availability of funds.
