Summary:
|
WHEREAS, proposals were electronically received on Thursday, November 30, 2023 after public advertisement for Kindergarten Through Grade Twelve District Wide Book Fairs. Request for proposals were issued to four (4) vendors with one (1) vendor responding; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education desires reading materials that support students in fostering a love of reading by offering a large variety of books that will help build at-home libraries through school-based book fairs; and
WHEREAS, the scope of work was amended to provide books fairs for pre-kindergarten through grade eight students. Reading books for high school students will be purchased separately; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education approved the award of contract during the January 25, 2024 Board Meeting for a contract term of February 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025 with an option to renew for one (1) successive two (2) year period; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education desires to exercise its sole renewal option; and
WHEREAS, the recommendation for renewal of term contract has been reviewed and approved by Jazleen Othman, Director of English Language Arts.

Recommendation to the Board:

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Newark Board of Education accepts and approves the renewal of term contract for Kindergarten Through Grade Twelve District Wide Book Fairs for a term commencing July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2027 as follows:
Scholastic Book Fairs, Newark, NJ at a cost not to exceed $3,000,000.00
EXPLANATION: To provide student book fairs.
