Summary:
|
WHEREAS, the Board of Education of the City of Newark (“Board”) desires to award a contract with outside legal counsel Lasser Hochman, L.L.C.;
WHEREAS, in accordance with N.J.S.A. 18A:18A-5a(1), the Board is authorized to award a term contract of up to one year for professional services without advertising for bids or public bidding;
WHEREAS, the law firm Lasser Hochman, L.L.C. has the requisite expertise and meet the need for qualified counsel with specialized experience necessary to handle legal matters on behalf of the Board for which it does not possess adequate in-house resources;
WHEREAS, General Counsel recommends award of a contract to the law firm Lasser Hochman, L.L.C. setting an hourly billing rate of $350.00 for attorneys; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board hereby authorizes and approves a term contract for legal services to the following law firm Lasser Hochman, L.L.C. for the 2023-2024 fiscal year at the billing rate stated above, subject to the availability of funds.
