Summary:
|
WHEREAS, in response to the COVID-19 National Declaration of Emergency proposals were electronically received in accordance with N.J.S.A. 18A:18A-4.5 on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 after public advertisement for Title I Academic Services. Request for proposals were issued to five (5) vendors with three (3) vendors responding; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education will provide equitable Title I Academic Services to Newark Title I non-public school students. This contract provides a daytime pull-out program in the components of English Language Arts and Mathematics; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education approved the original contract award during the June 22, 2021 Board meeting for a three (3) year period of September 1, 2021 through August 31, 2024 with an option to renew for one (1) successive two (2) year period; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education desires to exercise its sole renewal option for a contract term of September 1, 2024 through August 31, 2026; and
WHEREAS, the recommendation for renewal of term contracts was reviewed and approved by Michelina Thornton, Director of Federal Programs and Grants.

Recommendation to the Board:

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Newark Board of Education accepts and approves the renewal of term contracts for Title I Academic Services for a two (2) year period of September 1, 2024 through August 31, 2026 as follows:
A. Catapult Learning LLC, Camden, NJ at an amount not to exceed $30,000.00
B. Learn-It Systems LLC, Baltimore, MD at an amount not to exceed $200,000.00
EXPLANATION: The District is required to provide academic daytime pull-out services for Title I students attending nonpublic schools.
