Summary: WHEREAS, the Board of Education desires to enter into a two-year Lease Agreement with Saint Casimir Roman Catholic Church located at 164 Nichols Street, Newark, NJ, for a term of March 1, 2022 to August 31, 2024, with a mutual renewal options for three additional one-year terms (“Lease”);

WHEREAS, the recommendation has been reviewed and approved by Ms. Valerie Wilson, School Business Administrator.

Recommendation to the Board: NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Newark Board of Education hereby accepts, approves, and authorizes the Lease in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Lease for a term of March 1, 2022 to August 31, 2024, and authorizes the Board President to execute the Lease with Saint Casimir Roman Catholic Church on behalf of the Board as follows:

Fit out Period

March 1, 2022 to August 31, 2022
Monthly: $5,000 per month (To be applied to utilities)
Total: $30,000 (Six Months)

Year One

September 1, 2022 to August 31, 2023
Monthly: $28,646
Annually: $343,752

Two Hundred Fifty (250) students

Use of: Lower Level (6,000 square feet) First Floor (8,000 square feet), and
Second Floor (13,500 square feet), for a total of 27,500 square feet.

Year Two

September 1, 2023 to August 31, 2024
Monthly: $43,990 per month
Annually: $527,880

Three Hundred (300) students

Use of: Lower Level (6,000 square feet), First Floor (8,000 square feet), Second Floor (13,500 square feet), and Third Floor (13,500 square feet) for a total of 41,000 square feet.
