Summary: WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education originally advertised to receive bids on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 for Façade Repairs and Roof Replacement at West Side High School, request for bids were issued to twenty (20) vendors with zero vendors responding; and

WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education re-advertised to receive bids on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 for Façade Repairs and Roof Replacement at West Side High School, bids were issued to twenty-three (23) vendors with seven (7) vendors responding; and

WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education awarded a contract to Punjab Restoration Co., LLC., 39 E. Asbury Anderson Rd., Washington, NJ 07882 for Façade Repairs and Roof Replacement at West Side High School during the May 26, 2022 Board Meeting in the amount of $3,606,000.00. An additional twenty percent (20%) in the amount of $721,200.00 was approved for encumbrance as a contingency allowance; and

WHEREAS, change order one provides for temporary removal of three (3) T-Mobile antennas and associated cable trays to accommodate new roof installation and reinstallation once work is complete in the amount of $33,330.00; and

WHEREAS, change order two provides for temporary removal of three (3) Verizon antennas and associated cable trays to accommodate new roof installation and reinstallation once work is complete in the amount of $96,250.00; and

WHEREAS, change order three provides for disassembly and rebuilding of displaced parapet section including reroofing and flashing in the amount of $37,500.00; and

WHEREAS, change orders one through three were reviewed and approved by Carlos Edmundo, Acting Executive Director of Facilities Management and Krystle Whitlock, Assistant School Business Administrator.

Recommendation to the Board: NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Newark Board of Education accepts and approves change orders one through three in the amount of $167,080.00 increasing the contract value to $3,773,080.00. Remaining contingency will be $554,120.00.

EXPLANATION: Additional work required to complete the façade repairs and roof replacement project at West Side High School.
