Summary:
|
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education desired to enter into a contract with Montclair State University to provide Bilingual-Bicultural Certifications for teachers; and
WHEREAS, the District is authorized to enter into an agreement without advertisement with the United States of America, the State of New Jersey, county, or municipality or any board, body, officer, agency authority or board of education or any other state or subdivision thereof in accordance with N.J.S.A. 18A:18A-5b; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education approved the award of contract during the August 27, 2020 Board meeting for a one (1) year period of August 27, 2020 through August 26, 2021; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education approved the first amendment during the February 25, 2021 Board meeting increasing the contract award for additional teachers to receive their Bilingual-Bicultural Certification; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education desires to amend the contract a second time increasing the contract award for Early Childhood teachers to receive their Bilingual-Bicultural Certification; and
WHEREAS, the recommendation for amendment of term contract has been reviewed and approved by Matthew Brewster, Director of Staff Development.

Recommendation to the Board:
|
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Newark Board of Education accepts and approves the second amendment of term contract for Bilingual Bicultural Certifications for a one (1) year period of August 27, 2020 through August 26, 2021 as follows:
Montclair State University, Montclair, NJ at an amount not to exceed from $273,000.00 to $333,000.00 (additional $60,000.00)
EXPLANATION: To provide bilingual-bicultural certification for teachers within the Newark Board of Education. Subject to the availability of funding.
