Summary:
|
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education has committed itself to addressing academic excellence in its schools and the development of the highest potential in each student; and
WHEREAS, the District desires to purchase phonic booster materials for grades one through three as well as conduct professional development virtual teacher training sessions; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with N.J.S.A.18A:18A-5a(5), the District is authorized to award a contract without public advertisement for educational goods and services; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education approved the award of contract during the May 4, 2021 Board meeting for a contract term of May 4, 2021 through August 31, 2022; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education desires to amend the contract for inclusion of Core Phonics instructional materials; and
WHEREAS, the recommendation for amendment was reviewed and approved by Marilyn Mitchell, Director of Special Education and Dr. Mary Ann Reilly, Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning.

Recommendation to the Board:

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Newark Board of Education approves the amendment of term contract for Phonics Booster Summer Instructional Materials and Core Phonics from May 3, 2021 through August 31, 2022 as follows:
95 Percent Group Inc, Lincolnshire, IL at a cost not to exceed from $100,000.00 to $200,000.00 (additional $100,000.00)
EXPLANATION: To meet the educational requirements of New Jersey and the District’s Education Plan. Subject to the availability of funds.
