Summary:
|
WHEREAS, the State of New Jersey Chapter 192 and 193 Laws of 1977 as amended, requires that public schools of education provide selected educational services to pupils enrolled full-time in nonpublic elementary and secondary schools in Newark; and
WHEREAS, Essex Regional Educational Services Commission, and Catapult Learning through their direct services component, will provide these quality educational services by licensed educators to Newark nonpublic students for the 2021/2022 academic year at the rates established by the New Jersey Department of Education; and
WHEREAS, the total allocation is estimated at one million one hundred thousand dollars ($1,100,000.00). The Newark Board of Education is not responsible for services performed without an authorized purchase order, and only the issuance of a purchase order authorizes the performance of services; and
WHEREAS, the recommendation for award of term contracts have been reviewed and approved by Marilyn Mitchell, Director of Special Education.

Recommendation to the Board:

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Newark Board of Education accepts and approves the award of term contracts for Instructional Educational Services for Students in Non-Public Schools from September 20, 2021 through June 30, 2022 to Essex Regional Educational Services Commission and Catapult Learning at a cost not to exceed one million one hundred thousand dollars ($1,100,000.00) at the rates established by the New Jersey Department of Education as follows:

20-20-503-100-300-408-000-000 English Second Language $1,015.00/ full rate per pupil
20-20-504-100-300-408-000-000 Home Instruction $44.31/ full rate per pupil
