Summary:

WHEREAS, in response to the COVID-19 National Declaration of Emergency proposals were electronically received in accordance with N.J.S.A. 18A:18A-4.5 on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 after public advertisement for 9439 Mental Wellness Application Request For Proposal, request for proposals were issued to seven (7) vendors with one (1) vendor responding; and
WHEREAS, the District desires culturally responsive and trauma informed mental health coaching over text message creating a continuum of support for teenage students that don’t traditionally engage in formal therapeutic services due to high stigma and lack of access; and
WHEREAS, the contract is for a two (2) year period of March 1, 2022 through March 1, 2024 with an option to renew for one (1) successive two (2) year period; and
WHEREAS, the recommendation for award of term contract has been reviewed and approved by Mary Harvey, Director of Student Life.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Newark Board of Education accepts and approves the award of term contract for a Mental Wellness Application for a two (2) year period of March 1, 2022 through March 1, 2024 with the option to renew for one (1) additional two (2) year period as follows:
MindRight Health Inc., Newark, NJ at a cost not to exceed $294,000.00
EXPLANATION: To provide teenage students with culturally responsive and trauma informed mental health coaching via text message. Subject to availability of funds.
