Summary:
|
WHEREAS, the State of New Jersey Chapter 192 and 193 Laws of 1977 as amended, requires that public schools of education provide select educational services to pupils enrolled full-time in nonpublic elementary and secondary schools in Newark; and
WHEREAS, Essex Regional Educational Services Commission, and Catapult Learning through their direct services component, will provide these quality educational services by licensed educators to Newark nonpublic students for the 2024/2025 academic year at the rates established by the New Jersey Department of Education; and
WHEREAS, the total allocation is estimated at five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000.00) based on the 2023/2024 funding formula; and
WHEREAS, payment will be processed at the rates established by the New Jersey Department of Education for the 2024/2025 school year; and
WHEREAS, the recommendation for award of term contracts have been reviewed and approved by Marilyn Mitchell, Director of Special Education.

Recommendation to the Board:

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Newark Board of Education accepts and approves the award of term contracts for Instructional Educational Services for Students in Non-Public Schools from September 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025 to Essex Regional Educational Services Commission and Catapult Learning at a cost not to exceed five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000.00). The rates provided are estimates based on the previous years and subject to enactment of the appropriate act of the Legislature in the Appropriation Handbook, Department of Treasury, Office of Management and Budget.
