Summary: Whereas, the Newark Board of Education submitted an application for supplemental funding to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention and has been awarded additional funding to mitigate impacts of disruptions related to COVID-19 within schools while enhancing mental health supports and linkages to health services for students; and

Whereas, the goals of the supplemental funding include:
-Increasing staff capacity to use and implement emotional and mental health resources
-Increasing student and family access to mental health resources
-Enhancing safe, supportive learning environments
-Increasing parent/guardian access to continuous learning

Whereas, the grant amount of $358,697 is for the project period of August 1, 2021 through July 31, 2022.
Funding : $358,697
Recommendation to the Board: Now, Therefore Be It Resolved, the Newark Board of Education accepts the supplemental funds in the amount of $358,697 from the Center for Disease Control and will adhere to the spending plan and components established in the grant application.
