Summary: Whereas, the Newark Board of Education has chosen to engage in AspireNJ Youth; and

Whereas students of the following three schools will participate, Barringer High School, Newark School of Fashion & Design and University High School during the academic school year 2023-2024; and

Whereas 15 female students, per school site, will participate in a clinical program that aims to provide a safe and nurturing environment to enhance their emotional resilience, stress management skills and overall well-being; and

Whereas the program will consist of weekly 1-hour clinical sessions, allowing participants to engage in expressive art therapy practices that promote mental and emotional balance; and
Whereas school social workers and teachers will be surveyed on student progress.
Funding : Not to exceed $41,000
Recommendation to the Board: Now, Therefore Be It Resolved, Newark Board of Education accepts the participation in Aspire NJ Youth.
